The three-day conferencecomprises two days of workshop on October 5 and 6 and a ContinuousMedical Education (CME) on October 7.
While the workshop will focuson various bedside ICU practices and procedures related to variouslife support therapies, including mechanical ventilation, dialysis,bed-side ultrasonography, pharmacological and mechanical support toheart, the CME will highlight 'Sepsis in ICU'. HoD Prof AK Baronia said one of the most serious complications ofinfections is multi-organ sepsis. The CME will also focus on theissues that life threatening forms of sepsis need not arise only incases of bacterial infections but can happen with all other kind ofinfections like viral infections such as encephalitis and swine flu , tropical infections such as dengue, malaria and typhoid and fungal infections. According to an estimate,severe sepsis has highly mortality ranging from 40 per cent to ashigh as 80 per cent when this causes multi-organ failure.
