Do you get discouraged when your dog jumps up on people or becomes aggressive with other dogs? Does your dog run away from you at the park while everyone else’s dog obediently comes back? If so, then maybe your dog could benefit from some training. In reality there are benefits to training your dog including obedience, socialization, and solving more difficult behavior problems. Obedience • Obedience is not only a desirable characteristic in a dog it’s also an essential one. Obedience training ensures that your dog will listen to your commands and be on his/her best behavior. This is particularly important when you are out with your pet in crowded places or areas with lots of traffic. It becomes a matter of safety, for not just your dog, but for yourself and others around you as well. You can not afford to have your pet running wild. You want to show him/her off for the great dog that he/she is! Socialization • Another benefit that must be included in dog training is socialization. Socialization is extremely important for having a happy, well rounded dog. Dogs, like people, require social interaction to remain healthy. Without it they become depressed and withdrawn if they are not given the opportunity to mingle and interact with others. However, dogs don’t always know how to get along with others. Sometimes they need a little help and that’s where dog training comes into play. Your dog should be calm and comfortable around other dogs and other people. Solving behavior problems • That brings us to one of the most important benefits of training your dog solving all those difficult behavior problems. Problems like: aggression, biting, digging, barking, chewing, jumping, housetraining, whining, bolting out the front door, separation anxiety, and pulling on the leash. I know many a dog who has been taking to a shelter because of these type problems. It’s really sad too, because most of the time all the dog needed was the proper training and some patience from their owner. Dogs are a lot like children. Sometimes they misbehave and sometimes they make a mess but we continue loving them anyway. Just like children, they also need to be taught the difference between right and wrong. The best way to do this is to find a good dog training program and get involved. Help your dog to be the best family member he/she can be! The system I have DOES NOT require a professional trainer. It can be done by ordinary people just like you and me and the best part is: IT’S EASY! If you would like more information about my Secrets to Dog Training please visit my website.
