With his dedication and commitment Billy did the unbelievable! Coming from a family of miners leading a life of penury, Billy’s journey has been an inspiring one. One of West End’s long running shows, Billy Elliot has been running at the Victoria Palace Theatre since 11th May 2005. Winner of 2012 Olivier Audience Award, the only Olivier Award that is based on votes from theatregoers, the Billy Elliot London has yet again proven its supremacy in the world of entertainment. Sponsored by BBC Radio 2, the show has bagged one more of the prestigious award since it first won it in 2006. Billy’s journey commenced from the Northern London where he was born. The miner’s strike of 1984-85 has grasped the life in the locality and the eleven year old Billy’s life has too been influenced by it. His widowed father Jackie and elder brother Tony both are miners and currently out of work because of the ongoing strike. The love for dancing has been inculcated in the young kid by his invalid Nan who while her stay in Durham had aspired to be a professional dancer. The men there either work in mines or box in their past time. Jackie takes his younger son to a sports centre for enrolment in a boxing class. But the motherless child has given his heart to ballet dancing, an art he dreams to excel in. Luck turns out to be in his favour when his gym is converted to a ballet class as their studio in the ground floor has been occupied as a soup kitchen for the striking miners. Without his father’s knowledge he continues to practice the dance form under the guidance of his teacher Sandra Wilkinson. Wilkinson gets to see the immense potential and the passion in the young child and strongly believes that he will be able to make it to the Royal Ballet School one day. However a skirmish between the striking miners and police that involved Tony made Billy miss the auditions. When informed about the missed opportunity both Tony and Jackie fearing Billy to turn out to be a poof, got extremely outraged and warned him from continuing the dance form thereon. But still a determined child, he continues to practice the art clandestinely. Billy Elliot musical tickets are must to catch the inspiring tale of the kid that has been a record breaking classic featuring among the list of West End’s 20 longest running shows. The show has been brought to West End by the original creative team that was behind the immensely popular 2000 film with the same name. The show has been directed by Stephen Daldry, written by Lee Hall, choreographed by Peter Darling and produced by Jon Finn. Billy Elliot Tickets London is must to catch this outstanding musical featuring music of the legendary composer Sir Elton John. The show is suitable for theatregoers age eight and above. The musical is currently running at the Victoria Palace Theatre London located in the Victoria Street in the City of Westminster, London.
