How are bricks made? Before bricks were made, stone, wood, mud etc. were the materials used for building construction. But bricks were used by man even in pre-historic times. They still remain the most important building material used by man. Clay is a kind of fine-grained earth found in plenty on our earth, which is used in making bricks. Clay is workable when it is wet. It is easy to mould it into any shape. When baked at high temperatures, it becomes strong. A brick is made by wetting clay, pressing it into a mould, and then baking it in an oven until it is hard. In modern brick making machines, clay is formed into long columns, and then cut into particular size and shape of bricks. They are then baked in huge furnaces and then used in construction work of buildings. For Detail
