Stainless steel is basically iron alloys made up of at least ten percent chromium compound with other alloys materials used mainly to enhance the structure and properties. The steels classified in 200 series are mostly non magnetic and created with the approximate mixture of 7% manganese, 17% chromium and 4% nickel with other metals. This kind of steel is little much similar to its upper grade i.e. 300 series and widely used in making kitchen utensils and knives that can retain at high temperature at cooking. These are less corrosive than 300 series but once corrosion has begun, it starts break rapidly. Like 200 series steels, 300 series are also non magnetic and around 70% total steel production comes under this series. Wide ranges of applications are there when it comes to use 300 series steel types in construction industries of planes, automobiles and trains. As it contains 8% nickel and approximately 18% chromium, it is also used in kitchen utensils. On the other hand 400 series steels are magnetic and responding well to hardening through the heat. These are commonly used in combustion burners, exhaust pipes and heat exchanger applications. Similarly 600 series are highly treated in extreme heat level and should be used in low temperatures.
