Of what use to a leopard is its spotted coat? The leopard is an animal that lives in the forests of Africa and Asia, where the sun filtering through the trees gives a spotted effect to the ground where the leopard stalks. The leopard's spotted coat, therefore, blends perfectly into this background, helping to hide the animal from its prey and its enemies. Many hunters believe that the leopard is the most frightening of all the wild cats. Anecdotes abound from hunters of pursuit and combat, usually resulting in a fight to the finish with this fierce creature which will sometimes attack a man without the slightest provocation. It hunts ceaselessly and will prey on anything from small birds to antelopes and cattle. Some of them have taken to huntÂing for man, even going into their homes to seek out their prey. The fact that they can run, jump, climb trees and swim makes them really formidable enemies. They can be tamed when young, but as their wild nature is liable to reassert itself when they grow older, no tamer could really trust them. Yielding to no other animal in its ferocity, it often kills more victims than it can devour at once, merely to satisfy its blood lust. For Details
