There are many techniques for adding a great design to your T-shirt. Paint, dye, color spray or print to create your own inventive fabric creations. Prefer the materials you’ll need T-Shirt - 100% cotton will get fabulous results, avoid lycra based fabrics for painting. Fabric Paints - Invest in high quality fabric paint. It will make a huge difference. Get ready your materials and find some stimulation Place your shirt on a nice smooth surface, with the cardboard located inside the shirt to allow you to paint on. Select your colors you wish to paint with. I have used black only on this shirt, not only to keep the process simple, but it looks eye-catching also! Pick out a picture you wish you use or your design for your shirt. It can be a fashion photo from a publication, a picture, something that you like. Typically simple designs work better with this technique than more complex designs. When choosing your design keep in mind that you are going to need to cut it out with an X-acto knife so you probably want to avoid intricate patterns. Try to choose a well-defined image or text that will be easy to cut out. When you have chosen your image print it out onto card stock. Cut out your design using your knife. Think on making clean cuts and be sure you only cut out the areas where you want the paint to go. If you are doing a design with multiple colors you will need to create a separate stencil for each color that you plan to use. Carefully spray paint the shirt. Hold the needle at least 8 inches away from the shirt. Use a light touch and try not to oversaturated the shirt. If you get it too wet it will leak under the edges of your stencil and your design will not come out crunchy and clean. Allow each color to dry before moving on to stencils for extra colors. When you are done with all the colors allow the shirt to dry totally. The first time you wash it you should wash it by itself. After that you should be able to clean it like you would any other t-shirt. This is a fun, easy and reasonably priced way to make your own modified t-shirts.
