The Summerhill neighborhood was known as after "Summer Hill" - the nation estate of Charles Thompson. In 1842, Thompson requested David Henry Howard, Designer, to build him a nation home on 200 miles of place between Yonge Road and Mt. Enjoyable Road. The home itself was located on the place now known as Summerhill Landscapes. In 1864, Thompson's beneficiaries divided the place and developed the neighborhood. The real estate on Shaftesbury Opportunity, Ottawa Road, Summerhill Opportunity and Summerhill Landscapes are part of that heritage. By the 1880s, lifestyle in the neighborhood was focused around the North america Hawaiian Train. Citizens worked at the Northern Greater railway place on Yonge St. just below Shaftesbury Opportunity. In 1916, the place was renewed with its unique 140' high time structure. The place shut in 1930 and was later re-opened as a alcohol shop. The Summerhill neighborhood is located between Yonge Road, the CPR paths and the Bob Balfour Recreation place and Ravine. There is no through traffic. Off street parking is a luxury that increases the value of home. Older plants colour the roads that consist of this unique enclave of real estate and the Summerhill train place anchor bolts its south west corner at Yonge Road and Shaftesbury Opportunity. 160 decades ago, this place was the play place of one family. Today, many families live here. There are separated houses that replicate the magnificence of the unique "Summer Hill" as well as semi-detached and Victorian row-housing. During the last 30 decades, designers have managed to further democratize the neighborhood by building residence tasks. These improvements have allowed many more people to share the prosperity of lifestyle in Summerhill. Some may task my use of the word "democratic". In 2010, costs for separated real estate in Summerhill varied between $850,000 and $2,225,000. The costs of residence flats varied from $350,000 to $4,000,000. Summerhill is provided by Deer Recreation place Younger and Mature Community University, Cottingham Younger Community University and Our Lady of Everlasting Help Catholic University. Personal educational institutions in the place include The You are able to University, The Linden University and De La Salle Higher education (Oaklands). Havergal Higher education, The Bishop Strachan University and Upper North america Higher education are also near Summerhill. Summerhill is outlined on the eastern side by the Rosehill Tank and Bob A Balfour Recreation place. Rosehill Tank Recreation place features a kid's play place and a private garden. Bob A. Balfour Park's climbing and running paths link with the Buckle Line nature pathway. Ramsden Recreation place, located at Yonge Road and Gibson Opportunity, offers a kid's play place, a going pool, golf legal courts and an outdoor ice rink. For golf players in search of the perfect private team, there is The Cottingham Tennis Club, The Greater Lawn Tennis Club and The Tennis and Raquet Club. Yonge Road is the european border of both the Rosedale and Summerhill neighbourhoods and is booming with shops on both sides of the road. South of the railway link are the shops of Rosedale, the Northern Greater Train Station alcohol shop and the well known "5 thieves" specialised food markets. Further up Yonge Road, the St. Clair Center includes a shopping store, a drugstore, a gym and a beauty and hair salon. There are many dining places to be found on both Yonge Road and St. Clair Opportunity. A number of them feature in the open air dining during summer months time season time. Street bars and backyards motivate residents to walk their neighbourhoods and Summerhill is no exemption. Finally, the Deer Recreation place Community Collection, located at 40 St Clair Opportunity East, has silently accepted customers since 1952. 160 decades after Charles Thompson selected this place to be his home, Summerhill is constantly on the motivate us with its unique combination of location and appearance.
