How To Prevent Irritated Skin After Shaving

Health
There’s nothing nicer than freshly shaved skin, feeling silky and smooth under the brush of your hand. A good shave can give you confidence, and make you feel beautiful. But every once in a while, that same shave can cause your legs, underarms or bikini line to break out in angry red dots, which may make you rethink your decision to wear that cute mini-skirt or bathing suit. What are those painful red bumps, and how do you get rid of them so you can flaunt what you’ve got again?

Preventing irritation while shaving starts with knowing what you’re trying to avoid. Those red bumps are caused when your skin is irritated, and the hair follicles are raised or inflamed. When you shave over them, you may nick the top of the skin, resulting in those miniscule red dots, also known as razor burn.

Thankfully, you can reduce your risk of razor burn with the help of a few tricks and some organic beauty products. First, you want to make sure you have plenty of time to shave —you don’t want to rush the job and scratch yourself. Splash the region you’re shaving with warm water, and use a body scrub to gently exfoliate the skin. This will help you get a closer shave, though if you already have razor burn bumps, you should avoid using body scrub until it is healed. Exfoliate by rubbing the scrub in a circular motion with either your hand or a soft, nubby washcloth. After you’ve exfoliated and rinsed with warm water again, you’re ready to apply shaving cream. You never want to shave dry; if you don’t have any shaving cream on-hand, you can use hair conditioner. Then, using a sharp razor — never use a dull one, it’s easier to cut the skin and cause infections — begin shaving. Rinse the blades between every swipe, and don’t apply too much pressure.

Once you’re done, dry off and apply an aloe vera hydrating gel; this softens the skin without causing a stinging or burning feeling like many lotions do. After about 30 minutes or an hour, you can apply a thicker rejuvenating cream or the best moisturizer for dry skin to keep your skin smooth and hydrated all day. By then, your pores will have closed, so you won’t feel any burning.

If you’ve made a mistake and find yourself with razor burn, avoid lotion since it will burn worse! Instead, apply a cooling agent like witch hazel or aloe vera to take the sting out of the skin. Organic skin products like your aloe hydrating gel will encourage the skin to begin healing. You can also reduce the inflammation and irritation by applying a cool towel or ice pack over the area, and avoid shaving that area again until the red bumps are gone.

Buy moisturizing cream online at Aloe Vella. We offer one of the best moisturizers for dry skin at one of the best marketing prices. Our moisturizing creams and hydrating gel will improve your skin in a short duration.
