Throwing a birthday party for your child does not mean you have to spend a lot of money on party decorations. You can have a fabulous looking party without having to spend money that can be spent elsewhere like presents or on the rest of the party. You just need to use a little imagination or even get some ideas from social media with the likes of pinterest and facebook. Balloons Balloons are found at most if not all kids birthday parties. They are cheap, fun and colourful. You may choose to have balloons in colours to complement your party theme. For example purple and pink balloons are perfect for a princess party, or black and red balloons for a mickey mouse party. Helium balloons bunched together can make an impressive centrepiece otherwise you can have them randomly floating in the ceiling. Party guests can easily find the venue when you have balloons hanging at the front of the house, whether it is from trees or the mailbox. Greeting Signs A greeting sign is another party decoration that can make the party colourful but also welcomes your guests to the party. Again, you can have it to match the colours of the party and a home-made one can be cheaper than ones you purchase at the store. There are various materials you can use to make your greeting sign from different coloured paper, cardboard, fabric, even paper plates. You can paint or glue letters onto your home-made sign. Bunting Bunting is an increasingly popular decoration especially at kids parties. If you don't have store-bought bunting, it is easy and affordable enough to make one yourself using any of the same materials you use for the greeting sign. Match it with the party theme and hang it where most of the guests will be located during the party. Common places to hang it are near the food tables or where the birthday cake will be cut. Colourful bunting makes for a great photo backdrop. Table Decorations Be as creative as you want with table decorations. Depending on the theme, purchase or make props that can be placed throughout the party. Tablecloths in your colour theme can be decorated then handmade props can be added to complement it. Have your child help you create the masterpieces and it will be that extra special. Anything from cardboard cutouts of animals for a jungle party, colourful party hats decorated with colourful tissue paper and paints, placed on the tables ready for the party guests to wear, or even cheap kids toys that complement the theme. Favours You can save money by having the party favours double up as party decorations. Personalize kids favours by writing guests names on colourful and creative tags on each favour. Choose party favours that go with the theme such as a spade and bucket for a beach party theme or a pack of crayons and colouring book in a hand-decorated gift-bag for an art party theme. Since they will not be given out until each guest leaves, they will remain part of the party decorations until towards the end of the party, usually placed near the food table or at the table where guests are seated.
