I replaced my Calloway Fusion Irons with the Callaway X-24 irons and I can really tell the difference. I've always been able to hit a relatively long ball with any set of irons but I did not have much accuracy. I have since altered my swing in a effort to gain more accuracy and I was successful but my distance was dramatically reduced. The face on these is quite forgiving, and I hit straighter with these irons than any other set I have played. The sole of the club is rather wide, and the contour glides easily on fairway shots. The clubs have a lot of weighting at the toe and heel, and this also helps keep your shot straight. One of the interesting features is the dark coloring of the clubs. This is presumably to reduce glare, but I never felt that to be a problem in the past. I appreciate this feature for strictly cosmetic reasons. Contrary to other reviews I read, this is a sturdy finish, and I have not experienced problems of fading or other damage. Finally, the shaft is quite nice on this set. I am a strong person, and I generate a lot of club speed. I have had problems with excessive flex in clubs since I began playing. These shafts seem to be a bit stiffer than standard shafts, though not as stiff as a stiff shaft. Regardless, I have had no problem with these shafts. “Callaway X-24 Hot Irons are the latest evolution of our award-winning X-Series Irons, but not discount golf clubs, which have helped make Callaway the No. 1 Irons company in the game for the last 13 consecutive years,” said Dr. Alan Hocknell, Senior Vice President of Research & Development, Callaway Golf. “We recognize there are golfers looking for distance gains throughout their entire bag, and thus employed our core technologies and faster ball speeds into the design of Callaway X-24 Hot Irons, a longer, more accurate set than any of their predecessors.” The second thing that stands out is the newly designed badge on the cavity. Last year the cheap X-22 irons had a nice looking blue badge that had a modern & edgy look and had a nice clean appeal to them. The X-24 Hot has a totally different feel by offering a flame like orange color marked with platinum and black that makes you think “HOT”. The cavity looks similar in design with its notch weighting that resemble fangs and its overall “high technology appearance”. My complaints of this set are few, but worth noting. The wedges seem to give me problems. The low center of gravity is helpful, but it seems difficult to make solid contact. Also, the club face does not seem to grip the ball as much, and generating spin around the green is not always easy. These may not be problems with the clubs, and may instead by attributable to my swing, but they are things I noticed in playing. In summary, this is a great set, and I would gladly purchase it again. If you are looking for some great cheap golf clubs, and you play enough, these are a good investment. Source from: http://www.salemallgolf.com/article-736-Callaways+X-24+Hot+Irons+with+tour+pros.html
