Know what bugs me? When I ask somebody a question and I get a response that is so vague that I have to ask another question just to get my question answered the way it should have been answered in the first place. Am I making sense? I hope so, because if you're doing this with your sales copy, you're not making the most out of you prospect's visit. This article is going to concentrate on being as specific as possible and give examples of what I am talking about so it is crystal clear in your mind. Let's say you're writing a sales letter for an acne cure and you say something in the copy like, "This natural acne treatment will clear up your acne in three days...guaranteed." Now, while that certainly isn't horrible, it can be a lot better. What if you were to say something like..."This natural acne treatment will not only clear up your acne but will bring out a glow in your skin and make you feel clean all over your face as if you had just taken a shower." This paints a much better picture for the prospect than just "This will clear up your acne." Let's say you're writing a sales letter for a new PC processor and you say something like, "This 4 gig processor will speed up your computer so that you'll have more time to have fun". Again, not horrible, but could be so much better. Why not try to be really specific like this? "This 4 gig processor will have your spreadsheets calculating in split seconds, your web pages loading faster than lightening and your PC games playing like speed demons...while giving you more time to enjoy the things you'd rather be doing like spending time with your family at the park or going to a movie..." And so on. Be specific. Give details. Paint pictures so people can visualize things. The main point that you should be getting out of this article is simple. By speaking in generalities, or not giving enough detailed information, you are leaving too much to the prospect as far as imagination goes. He may not imagine the things that you want him to imagine. By filling in as many details as possible, you are pulling him into the copy and ultimately into making the purchase.
