There are many providers of home grown seeds nowadays. They sell non-hybrid and non-GMO seed banks, all containing over 80 heirloom seed banks (open-pollinated) personally selected for the homegrown production of tasty and nutritious vegetables or fruits or herbs and grains. They supplement their diet with nutrient-dense and homegrown produce and save money on their annual food budget. Each of their banks is filled with over 80 varieties of non-hybrid and non-GMO and open-pollinated heirloom seed. These varieties include (but are certainly not limited to) Carrots or Corn and Tomatoes, Onions, Green Beans and Peas, Broccoli, Mustard, Lettuce, Turnips or Asparagus and Cucumbers. Due to seasonal and climatic factors, their seed bank contents change regularly and that is why they do not publish precise lists of bank contents. For example, last year's drought wiped out several crops and some varieties are totally unavailable. Even so, one can be assured of receiving a well-balanced or a nutritious mix of fresh seed that will both allow one to eat well and enable one to utilize one’s entire growing season. All of their banks come packaged in a re-sealable steel US Army ammo boxes that are airtight, watertight and vermin proof. There is no better way to store one’s seed. Obviously, they could save a great deal of money by packaging their seeds in some other sort of container. But when the well-being of their family is on the line, they aren't taking any chances. The industrialized food system has seen significant progress in recent years. As some of those advancements are good, not all have been. Genetically modified organisms (GMOs) are made by forcing genes from one species; such as bacteria or viruses, animals, or humans into the DNA of a food crop or animal to introduce a new trait. Several animal studies indicate serious health risks associated with GM food, including infertility, immune problems or accelerated aging and faulty insulin regulation and changes in major organs and the gastrointestinal system. Genetically engineered seeds are one of these advancements in the industrialized food system that is absolutely wrong. Nearly don’t understand the prevalence of non-GMO seeds in grocery stores and how they got there or the health risks associated with them.
