Howdy, future doctors? Today, we are going to tell you every little secret about NEET-UG exam. The aim is to summarize the most important information that you need to keep in mind while preparing for NEET UG exam. Here it goes: NEET stands for National Eligibility cum Entrance Test. NEET-UG is an unified entrance exam to be conducted by CBSE which is introduced from this year only, for students who wish to study any undergraduate medical course (MBBS), dental course (BDS) or postgraduate course (MD / MS) in government or private medical colleges in India. NEET UG 2013 was conducted offline. You may ask what happened to the AIPMT then? Well, AIPMT was conducted by CBSE for selection of candidates for admission to 15% seats under All India Quota. With the introduction of NEET courses, the said examination will replace AIPMT and other similar Under Graduate level Medical Entrance Examinations. Examination Pattern: The NEET-UG exam consists of one paper containing 180 objective type questions (four options with single correct answer) from the subjects Physics, Chemistry and Biology (Botany & Zoology) to be answered within 3 hours, on the specially designed machine-gradable sheet using Blue/Black Ball Point Pen only. The exam does have negative marking. Each correct answer will get 4 marks and for each incorrect response, 1 mark will be deducted from the total score. NEET-UG Syllabus: The syllabus for Online Test series for NEET-UG is the same as that of the MBBS course described in the MCI Regulations concerning Graduate Medical Education, 1997. The MCQs will be based on the MBBS syllabus, as well as on the knowledge that needs to be acquired during the internship period. The distribution of questions, model questions and method of tie breaking for ranking have been placed on the MCI website. NEET UG 2013 Seat Allotment As per the guidelines of CBSE, 15% of the seats in medical colleges/institutions will be reserved for students applying under the All India Quota. Note: Students belonging to Andhra Pradesh and Jammu & Kashmir are not eligible for applying under the All India Quota since their states have opted out of the system many years ago. All the medical colleges/institutions across the country will have to follow the seat allotment (85%) as per the guidelines of their respective State Govt. Note: Admissions to the medical courses at AFMC will be as per the norms of the Directorate of Armed Force Medical Service, Ministry of Defence, Government of India.
