Whether you own a credit card, a debit card, or a prepaid MasterCard, it's important that you keep your cards safe. Should someone get their hands on the card, you may end up a few hundred or a few thousand dollars poorer by the time you get around to canceling the card. Owning MasterCards or Visa cards is a good way to avoid having to carry cash, but unsafe use of your cards can cause you to lose a lot of money. In order to be safe, here are some tips for your credit card use: " Limit Your Cards -- How many MasterCards do you really need? You really just need one or two, and perhaps a prepaid MasterCard for those shopping trips you go on and want to limit your spending. If you have so many cards, it's easier for one of them to get stolen or lost. Keep the number of cards you own to a healthy minimum. " Be Careful Giving Information -- Many times, you will be asked for your credit card details when making a purchase or talking to your bank over the phone. If the company called you, it's best to avoid giving out your credit card details. You have no real way of knowing if they're legit, because they called you. Only give out this information when you are the one making the call - and even then, be careful. " Add a Photo -- If you want to ensure that no one else will ever be able to use your MasterCards, get a card that has a photo ID included on it. It sounds silly, but it is a good way to protect your card. The person swiping your card at the register will always see the ID, and they'll easily be able to tell if you're the owner of the card. It's perfect for if the card gets stolen. " Keep Your PIN Secret -- If you can avoid it, don't write down your PIN anywhere that it could be seen by anyone else. You can write it down and store it in a place that you know people will never look, or type it into a Notepad document that is hidden in your computer files. You want to be sure no one can find your PIN number, so don't leave it anywhere visible or easily found. " Check Your Statements -- You should have an idea of what you spent each month, and you should check the monthly statements you receive against the credit card purchases you make. If you see that there is something extra or out of place, it's wise to check into the charge and see if it is valid or not. You may end up catching someone using you card incorrectly, saving yourself a fortune on your MasterCards expenses. " Go Prepaid -- If you want to ensure total safety, why not get a prepaid MasterCard rather than regular MasterCards? The prepaid MasterCard will allow you access only to the funds that you have in that account, so you won't lose much money if the card is lost or stolen. It's important that you are careful while using these cards, as they are the gateway to your bank account. If you don't want others to be able to use your money, you need to use your MasterCards safely. Saving yourself mastercard prepaid debit card a fortune on your pre paid master cards expenses.
