There are a lot of administrators and people who believe that public education doesn't need music in its curriculum. At the same time there are plenty of other people who believe that music is incredibly important to the development of children. As budgets get cut across the US, many people are upset that music and the arts are being cut. They are fighting back with information and public support to keep music education alive in the public education system. Neil Godbole has always been a fan of music and is a capable musician himself. He supports the continued efforts to keep music education in schools. Neil Godbole has known for some time about the importance and benefits an education with music in the curriculum extends to children and learners. Some of the benefits are as follows: When children learn music – whether it's singing, playing, or listening ? they help to improve their hand-eye coordination. Not only that, but the mental and muscular requirements of playing and listening to music help children learn every other subject or activity much more quickly and efficiently. Believe it or not, but music education in children from ages two to nine actually improves the brain's ability to learn a new language and to learn their own language. Music learning can create mental structures that help a person with language acquisition for years. Another bonus to music education comes from research out of the University of Toronto at Mississauga. Researchers there found that children who had music classes and lessons regularly throughout their school years averaged a higher IQ score than children who did not. Musicians and even young people who study music have a brain that functions differently from non-musicians. There is a lot of research that shows that children who are interested in music and study or play regularly have more neurological growth than peers who do not have a music education. This can help them with almost everything else they attempt in life.
