When it comes to irons, no company has the overall respect it seems that Mizuno garners. The fans of their clubs and the people that play them regularly all say the same thing. The MX-200 is the iron for both amateurs and professionals with a solid hitting area combined with an aggressive sole design.
This weighting does mean that the lofts on the Mizuno MX 200 irons are a little stronger than the corresponding MP irons. However the feel is almost as good as the MP irons as the forged heads offer great feedback combines with lots of confidence from the oversized heads.
The Mizuno MX-200 irons arrived at our offices shortly after the completion of that review and as you can see from the picture above, they are extremely nice looking. I kept commenting to the others around the office that they are too nice looking to be played. Obviously it was my poor attempt at humor because the rest of the staff was just dying to try these out.
Unlike the new MP models there was a big difference between the ping i20 irons best price and Mizuno MX-200 irons. While both clubs offered impressive forgiveness levels the MX-100s produced a significantly higher ball flight from almost any part of the face. The MX-200s inspired confidence without seeming too bulky at address and the soft forged feel is definitely noticeable next to the cast MX-100.
The other major benefit is that the trajectory is excellent throughout the set and the ball does not balloon off the face despite the cavity pocket on the back of the club head. This weighting does mean that the lofts on the Mizuno MX-200 irons are a little stronger than the corresponding MP irons. However the feel is almost as good as the Mizuno MP-64 irons as the forged heads offer great feedback combines with lots of confidence from the oversized heads.
You just can’t go wrong with these clubs. You can’t miss, you can’t hit the ball short, but you might be frustrated if you are looking for something more. These golf clubs are the ultimate beginner’s clubs. A number of intermediate players can make these clubs work amazingly.
