Sydney Harbour is preparing to host the 2013 Sydney Gold Coast Yacht Race on Saturday 27 July, with organisers announcing time is running out for teams to register. The race takes crews from the start line just off Nielsen Park at Valacuse, through the harbour and to the Sydney Heads. From here skippers will turn left and head to the finish line at Southport, off Main Beach. This year is the 28th race and there are more than 50 boats expected to start, from four states. "I would like to encourage all yacht owners who may be considering racing north to enter their boat over the next 48 hours," said Commodore Piggott, who will also be racing. There are plenty of sailing events that visitors to Sydney can watch. On Boxing Day each year boats set off on the Sydney to Hobart yacht race.
