The Titleist range has a broader appeal than ever, thanks to extra forgiveness and impressive adjustability. However, there’s still plenty to attract the traditional Titleist player.
The Titleist 913H Hybrid is the perfect example of this, with its compact and attractive head, a low-spinning, penetrating flight and workability for those accomplished enough to shape the ball. The head looks fantastic at address and performs particularly well off the deck and from tight lies.
At first glance, its looks are very similar to best price Titleist 910H hybrid, but that goes to show that when it works, don’t try to fix it. The head design is a little wider, and the face seems to run square off the hosel with very little, if any, offset, which I loved. Performance came next, and it was very easy to strike, flight and shape the ball from all types of lie.
The 82-gram shaft I tested helped me to feel where and when the face would square up. This really gave me confidence on exactly where the ball would go immediately after contact. Its "SureFit" hosel allows for independent loft and lie adjustments. The 913H delivers above-average overall length, with more roll than many other hybrids.
For both the Titleist 913F Fairway Wood price and hybrids, Titleist R&D created a leaner SureFit Tour hosel with a lower hosel height and tapered sleeve, which benefits CG position as well as the appearance at address. The new SureFit Tour weight on the sole further optimizes the CG for speed and forgiveness. The weight has a new, flat geometry with a screw that holds the weight in place but does not extend up into the driver head, contributing to a lower overall CG.
“In combination with a new flat SureFit Tour weight, this allowed us to really move our CGs to new performance thresholds and obtain improved distance potential,” said Dan Stone, Vice President of Research and Development, Titleist Golf Clubs.
The classic pear-shaped head features a new sleeker version of Titleist's SureFit Tour hosel, which allows loft and lie to be adjusted independently. The centre of gravity position and offset differ slightly depending on loft to deliver distance and forgiveness through the range. More weight helps provide the optimum launch and reduced spin.
