Yes, I get you. You are probably tired of listening to pro-choice advocates defending abortion and anti-abortionists condemning it to hellfire. This social and political war on the issues regarding abortion has been going on for decades, but the people involved have been throwing the same arguments over and over again. Yes, the noise dies down eventually. But it is always the calm before the storm. All the people need is another moral or social issue on abortion and all hell breaks loose once again. Just look at the Kermit Gosnell case. It does not help that there is actually a very thin line between abortion and murder. As a plus, the new abortion regulations of the states in America are not only extreme but also ridiculous. I am not here to defend abortion or bash the government and anti-abortion activists. I only want to make my sentiment known. My sentiment is that even though abortion is plagued with moral and ethical issues, we cannot deny the fact that it is also useful to the society, especially to the womenfolk. “How can it be beneficial when it kills the future generations of this country?” I believe that is an anti-abortion activist’s response when he or she reads this. If you are the type of person who thinks people are mad to be writing about the positive side of abortion, then do yourself a favor. Click that little “x” button at the upper-right corner. When utilized in the right context, abortion can bring positive impact to the person who directly engages in it. I believe you know the usual related contexts—cases of rape, family planning, teenage pregnancy, medical complications, among others. If this method is the only way to make the lives of these women a little better, a little more tolerable, won’t you consider it? Even for a while? I am baffled by those people who fight so hard for the unborn babies, who do not even have human features yet. What about the women involved? Are they not thinking about their emotional, mental, and physical struggle? When these women did let their pregnancies go on and gave birth, do you think they have the resources to raise their kids in the right way? What if these children grew up living miserable lives? They are so miserable that they often wish they were not born. What happens then? We can’t turn back time and correct all the wrong. All we can do is try to fix the present and hope that these women can live whole lives again. Abortion is there as an option for women. And it remains that way. It is not like the pro-choice advocates are showing abortion down women’s throats. They are fighting to give women a wider set of options, to provide them with the most appropriate approach to their current situation. Is that too much to ask?
