One of the quirks of the female psyche is that women, when looking in a full-length mirror, almost universally find their eyes drawn to the areas of their bodies which are less than perfect. And one of their physical features which is an extremely strong eye magnet is cellulite. One of the most misunderstood aspects of having cellulite is that it has nothing to do with your weight. Even the slenderest of supermodels can be afflicted with cellulite, but the photographer will simply air brush it away as he or she does any of the models' other flaws. Everyone, regardless of weight, has subcutaneous fat, and that is where the cellulite develops. How can you eliminate cellulite? 1. Cut back on Dietary Fat While some dietary fat is essential for our bodily processes, eating too much fat can quickly cause health problems. So start avoiding those fast foods and replace the fatty meat you eat with lean poultry or fish. Add plenty of high fiber whole grains, as well as fresh veggies and fruits, to your meals, and make sure you are consuming at least 64 ounces of waiter each day. More is better. Also cut back on the desserts, sugary drinks, and processed food. 2. Get Physically Active Boosting your cardiovascular function with a program of regular exercise is a teriffic way to fight cellulite. Exercise stimulates your circulations while speeding up your metabolism so that you burn calories at an increased rate. Improved blood flow is believed to flush out the toxins which accumulate in your fat and give it the dimpled appearance of cellulite. Never overdo it when you exercise, and if you're out of shape, take things slowly until you build up some stamina. 3. Try Massage There is some evidence that regular deep tissue massage may smooth away cellulite, and you can easily find a local spa which offers it. Massage will also stimulate your body's lymph flow, which flushed toxic substances from your cells. To be effective, however, this deep tissue massage may be quite uncomfortable. You can, however, try some self-massage in your own home with a sisal mat. Massage your cellulite deposits in a circular motion, always working towards the heart, to soften your fat cells so they are metabolized more easily. 4. Moisturizers You'll have no trouble finding moisturizers formulated to reduce the appearance of your cellulite, and the majority of them contain an ingredient called dimethylethanolamine, or DMAE. DMAE works by hydrating the subcutaneous skin cells to make them appear plumper, so that your surface skin is evened out. 5. Liposuction Surgery While liposuction surgery may provide you with an immediate solution to your cellulite problem, it is expensive and will do nothing to prevent the recurrence of both your fat and your cellulite. It is also accompanied by the same risks as any surgical procedure, with the additional one of uneven body contours when the cellulite has not been properly removed. 6. Acoustic Wave Therapy Also known as AWT, Acoustic Wave Therapy is the latest cellulite treatment, and uses sound waves to both repair connective tissue and restore the skin's elasticity. Each AWT session lasts about half an hour, and about six sessions are required to make a visible improvement in the appearance of cellulite. So there you go.
