Zipper, also called slide fastener. a device for fastening clothing, luggage, etc., consisting of two parallel tracks of teeth or coils that can be interlocked or separated by the pulling of a slide between them. Nylon Zippers and diamond zippers are the common use zippers.
In modern society, zipper is not a new thing for us, to some extent, we can said that everyone know it and everyone use it. We can see it in our clothing (e.g., jackets and jeans), luggage and other bags, sporting goods, camping gear (e.g. tents and sleeping bags), and other items. Also, sewing supplies zipper is the zipper that we usually use.
Some cloth use Zipper instead of button because it only have a good design od the cloth,but also more convenient for people to use. At least one of our cloths have a zipper, but what should you do if your zipper is broken? Just put it on one side,and then throw it? Have you even thought that may be you can fix it by yourself? Most of us don't have the sewing skills to remove and replace a zipper so that it looks like the original. However, other ways exist to fix a zipper without removing it.
Here are the steps to help you to obtain a reusable zipper.
1.you can remove any stitching holding the zipper in place.
2. You need to remove all of the threads from the zipper.
3.Press the zipper tape to remove the wrinkles and possible warping from the garment it was attached to. But careful that do not iron with too high a heat on coil zippers. Zippers with metal teeth are more forgiving of high heats on an iron but then you have to use a press cloth of some form to prevent the metal teeth from scratching your iron.
4. Use spray starch or sizing to give the zipper tape a bit more body, which can make it like working with a new zipper when re-sewing this zipper into the next item.
However, If the zipper tape is unraveling, use stitching or pinking shears to stop the unraveling. Sometime, we just need to do some simple steps to get a reusable zipper. Zipper is just a small part in your cloth, but play an important role in your garment.
