Cobblestone pavers provide the home owner with means of creating an aesthetically appealing patio, walking path or driveway. Cobblestone pavers are available in many different sizes, shapes and colors. These choices enable the home owner to create a unique and customized design. These pavers are also durable and easy to install. Step 1 – Marking the Area Use your chalk line to mark the area where you want to install your cobblestone pavers. Be sure to include the edging in the marked area. Use your tape measure to determine the length and width of the installation area. Step 2 – Excavating the Area Use a shovel to dig up a six inch deep border around the area. Shovel the soil into a wheelbarrow. Continue removing the soil inside the border to a six inch depth. Remove any stumps, roots or large stones from the area as well. Use a tamper to compact the soil where the cubic stones will be installed. Visit your local rental shop or hardware store to rent a tamper. Be sure to read the instructions provided by the manufacturer of the tamper before you begin to use it. Step 3 – Laying the Gravel Lay half of your limestone gravel over the compacted soil. The gravel should be about three quarters of an inch in size. Use your tamper to compact the gravel. Lay the other half of the gravel and compact it. You will need about one cubic yard of gravel for every fifty square feet of cobblestone you will be installing. Step 4 – Installing the Edging Install your chosen edging material around the border of the sand gravel. Use the tamper to compact the edging. Compact the edging until it matches thickness of the sand and the cobblestone pavers. Step 5 – Laying the Landscaping Fabric Position your landscaping fabric over the gravel to prevent any weeds from growing through the cobblestones. Step 6 – Laying the Sand Cover the entire area of landscaping fabric with a two inch deep bed of sand. Use the tamper to compact the sand. Step 7 – Laying the Cobblestone Pavers Position the cobblestone pavers on top of the sand. The pavers should be installed so that they fit tightly together. Use your rubber mallet to carefully press the pavers in place. Be sure not to apply too much force. This could accidentally cause damage to the pavers. Use a level to be sure that pavers are being installed evenly. Step 8 – Adding the Sand Fill any spaces between the pavers with sand. Be sure the spaces are completely full. Use a broom to sweep away any excess particles. Step 9 – Spraying the Area Use your garden hose to lightly spray the pavers with water. Be careful not to dislodge any sand from the crevices. Allow the sand to dry. If necessary, add more sand and repeat the spraying process. Finally, let me have a short conclusion.
