Hitting the Right Target Market

Better understanding of your customer leads to a to a faster business growth. Some new ventures often struggle discovering who their target audience are and set their sights too broad. Most businesses commit mistakes by not setting up proper feasibility study. Poor marketing plans create confusion on the business in determining their target market. But business armed with knowledge on proper marketing strategies rarely experience distress on finding their target market. Do you know who your target market is? A common businessman who’s new to the world of business may be giving out simple details about the target market, while a seasoned company like Doppler Internet with experienced marketing professionals may provide accurate details.

But professional marketing professional will provide an answer like this: “We own a gadget store on Chicago, IL. Answer these Questions First
These questions will help you determine if you already have your target market or to determine your target market.

• Who would pay for my products/services?
• Who has already bought from my store?
• What do my buyers think?
• Am I overestimating my reach?
• How can I sell my product efficiently?
• How can I find my customers?

Those questions will help you to determine who your target market is, but it is not enough to rely on these questions. There are guidelines you need to follow on the later part of the article.

Guidelines for Finding your Target Audience
Your brand should appeal to the market you wanted to reach. All businessmen have a specified target for their products. Determining the characteristics of the average viewers will help you to engage.

1. Demographic Profile of your Target Audience
o Age – Know the age range of the population who needs your service?
o Gender – Is either male or female would be interested your products/services?
o Income – what is the income level of my potential clients?
o Education – Educational attainment of your market. This help in proper advertising that help in being sensitive to your viewers.
o Marital Status - what is their marital or family status?

2. Determine their Lifestyle
Know what your target market value most. It is important to know when they get most of their decision-making information. What do they do for living? Do they like searching the internet or reading newspaper?

3. Determine how you want your target to interact with your services/products
Know how your target audiences benefit from availing your product or services? Will he like or dislike the product you offer him? Or will the product fill the basic need of the market, or is it luxury item that may help them increase quality of life, but not essential?

4. Create a target audience Profile

• How many children does he have?
