The restaurants field face quite a conundrum where there is an upsurge in the number of restaurants that have been opened but a rising demand for qualified staff who are functional in UAE. The lack of experience amongst young chefs has added to this problem. According to expert opinion, the restaurant industry is expanding, enormously, which has created innumerable opportunities with a shortage of chefs. In popular opinion the many young chefs who are available in the industry are generally geared toward developing their career, rather than sticking to a specific choice of the many restaurants in UAE. There have been several factors that have been attributed to this trend in the market, of which age is considered a major factor. The recruitment and retention of skilled staff has also proven to be a major industry challenge for the many restaurants in UAE. However, these are not the only issues that are now faced by the different restaurants in UAE. The increase in the prices of food items owing to inflation and the general increase in the competition owing to the large number of restaurants that have opened up in UAE have been cited as major reasons. While in the past young and junior chefs generally stay in a stable position for a long time before expecting to move on, the increase in competition has enabled opportunities where they tend to do so. Some of the lead head hunters all over UAE, who cater to the best hospitality and leisure staff, have started up outlets and restaurants in different cities like Dubai, Abu Dhabi and Sharjah. many instances stand, where the experts in the industry of restaurants in UAE have commented on the quality of people being employed by the many restaurants and have expressed shock at the quality being promoted across. While this might be the general scenario, there are several franchises that have been doing quite well and have introduced several new branches and items to lure more customers. It is well known fact that UAE is host to some of the world renowned restaurants with several branches of global brands. These restaurants ensure that their outlets are designed and staffed to ensure that the ambiance is compatible with the general range of customers that they expect immaterial of the diversity involved. As a result, the industry of restaurants in UAE has seen its share of ups and downs and has a conflicted scenario at hand.
