The official name for the islands of Langkawi (in Malaysia) is ‘Langkawi, the Jewel of Kedah’. With a name quite so grand, you wouldn’t be wrong to expect an equally grand tourist experience on your Malaysian holiday. You wouldn’t be disappointed either, because Malaysia takes it tourist industry with a level of seriousness that is hard to surpass. Over the years, Malaysia’s eclectic mix of cultures, cuisines, arts and natural beauty have attracted several millions of curious tourists, from amateur holiday makers to serious travellers. Travel packages to Malaysia are getting more popular by the day, and it’s about time you availed of one. Here’s why: • Kuala Lumpur Malaysia might be a country where traditions are resilient, but it’s also a country that knows how to keep up with the times. Kuala Lumpur, with its population of over a million people, is the perfect testimony to this claim. As metropolitan as a city can possibly get, Kuala Lumpur offers you a chance to experience everything you would experience in a big city, with a unique Malaysian twist. There’s no way to miss the city’s imposing vibe, what with the massive architecture and twisted metal skylines. Kuala Lumpur is also home to the Petronas Towers, the tallest twin towers in the world. How’s that for size! • Langkawi After having your fill of big city life, Malaysian style, head to one of Malaysia’s breathtaking islands to soak in the sea breeze and unwind. There’s no better way than Langwaki tours. Langkawi isn’t just one island however; it’s an archipelago of over a hundred islands, both big and small. If the biggest, most populated eponymous island of Pulau Langkawi gets a little too crowded for you, you can always find one that is a little more secluded. After all, only two of Langkawi’s islands are actually populated with residents, making it a perfect place for an escape from the chaos of suburbia. • The National Zoo of Malaysia Animals in Malaysia are among the luckiest animals in the world, given the strict wildlife laws and government endorsed protection measures for animals. Those creatures captive in Malaysia’s National Zoo might not have the freedom their brethren enjoy in the wild, but they are housed in a state of the art zoological facility that extends for over a hundred acres. The National Zoo boasts several exhibits, an extensive reptile park, aviary and even an insect you. • Underwater World We don’t mean the one in the Singapore, but the one in Langkawi, Malaysia. And while it is in Langkawi, it deserves an individual mention. Underwater World is an oceanarium like no other in the country, and if you have children along then make sure that you take them for a visit! Malaysia has been ranked on the list of the world’s most visited countries year and after, and on average is the ninth most visited nation on Earth. If you haven’t been on a travel package to Malaysia yet, you really, really should. You won’t regret it! __________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Ninad Chaudhari works as a Web UI Designer / Developer with Cox & Kings.
