Poor organic gardening can negatively affect you, both physically and emotionally. You need to do a lot of your research, so that you don't waste money, time, and resources on improperly growing your garden. There are some tips listed below to help you start properly growing the ideal organic garden. To avoid drowning your plants, follow weather reports as much as possible. If rain is expected, there is no need in watering your garden. This will save you money on your water bill and avoid watering your plants exceedingly. If dryness and heat are expected, water your plants accordingly. To be sure a tree doesn't become a problem with age, think of what size it will become before you plant it. The perfect place for a sapling may not be a great place for a tree several years down the road. You should be especially careful not to plant a tree too closely to your house, as the roots can cause damage. An old wagon can help save time as well as your back. Instead of constantly having to retrieve your gardening tools as you work your way around your garden, commandeer an old child's wagon. An old wagon works as well as a garden cart, and can often be obtained free or very cheaply if you get it used. If your gardening plans include pea plantings, try starting them off indoors rather than planting the raw seeds in outdoor beds. Pea seeds germinate better indoors. Seedlings will grow stronger, and withstand attacks from pests and diseases a lot better. Once they are strong enough, you can transplant them outside. To make nutrient fertilizer from stuff you have around the house, look at what you have for breakfast. Both old coffee grounds and tea bags make an excellent fertilizer, especially when it comes to plants that love acid. Eggshells add alkaline to your soil, and bananas are the best source of the potassium that roses thrive on. To bring birds to your garden, add plants that will naturally attract them. One of the best plants for attracting birds are sunflowers. Birds are naturally drawn to their height and scent. Birds also love small trees like Japanese maples and dogwood trees, as well as most kinds of shrubs or vines. Bulbs produce beautiful flowers in your garden year after year. To achieve the most blooms, plant your bulbs as soon as temperatures in your area begin to cool in the fall. This is usually August in zones 1 to 4 and September in zones 4 to 7. Those in southern climates will have to chill their bulbs before planting. Draw your fingernails across a bar of soap, to seal the undersides of your nails off. Doing this will prevent dirt from becoming trapped underneath them while you are gardening. When you are finished in the garden, you can clean your nails with a nailbrush to remove the soap. Use common sense when watering your garden. To save time, use a soaker type hose so each plant doesn't need individual watering from the nozzle of a hose or a little watering can. To protect your plants, keep the flow on the soaker down. Keep the water turned on for about two hours; while your plants are being watered, you will have time for other activities. Poor organic gardening can be very troublesome, but with some work and some patience, you can grow a better garden.
