Cyromazine is a kind of triazine insect growth regulator and a systemic insecticide that is highly effective against leaf miners and fly larvae. On completing oral administration to poultry, about 99 percent of the allotted dose is excreted in an unchanged fashion in the feces. A small amount of about 0.6 percent gets deposited in the eggs and a few others in the chicken tissues. Most of the ingested Cyromazine in poultry and mammals are absorbed into blood. A little of it is metabolized in the liver and the major portion is excreted out via urine. The process of excretion is quite fast. Approximately 95 percent of the absorbed dose is excreted out within a span of 24 hours after administration. In case of treated poultry, as the drug excreted out through urine is combined with the feces in the cloaca, the manure is treated in a uniform manner that lets for a better control of the fly maggots. In case of mammals, the ingested drug does not however end in the feces. It ends in the urine and as a consequence it cannot be utilized for manure fly control as a feed-through larvicide. MECHANISM OF ACTION OF CYROMAZINE The mechanism of action of this drug is definitely not like the Chitin Synthesis Inhibitor of other development inhibitors such as benzoylureas.
