With one week to go to the AmericanSuperyacht Forum (ASF: 21-23May, asf/asf2012 /), the programme is shaping up to be one the most ground-breakingand exciting events in its ten-year history. The final speakers have now been confirmed by the organisers,Superyacht Events. Some of these names are returning speakers, butothers are brand new to thesuperyacht events circuit and areexpected to inject a fresh perspective into the marketplace. One such new name is Ash Rajan, head of investment policy atMerrill Lynch"s Ultra High Net Worth investment office. Rajanwill speak during the second session of day one: Realising DomesticPotential and Intelligent ClientTargeting. Drawing on hisspecialist experience working closely with anelite corps offinancial advisors and delivering asset management solutions toUHNWI private clients and foundations, Rajan will provide aninsight into this esoteric area of the industry. Backed up byfigures and trends on UHNWIs from Merrill Lynch research he willask, 'how can the superyacht industry take advantage of suchinformation for growth?' The next speakers in the final wave confirmed is vice president atRybovichSuperyacht Marina and Refit, George Whitehouse and DerekSmith from yacht management consultancy, Hill Robinson. In dayone's final session entitled, The Quality Control Conundrum –Achieving Better Service and Support Focus, Whitehouse and Smithwill join Dean Du Toit from National Marine and Graeme Lord atFairport Yacht Support in a panel discussion. Together they willlook at both sides of the quality control debate: What do thebuyers need in order to better satisfy their owners, and what dothe sellers need in order to better serve this group? Whitehouse isa veteran of the superyacht industry, having been a captain for 29years, and laying claim to building one of the first 45m Trinitys,Bellini, as well as running other notable superyachts such asHelios, Kiss the Sky and most recently Floridian, (ex AussieRules). Launching matters for day two, and featuring our final role call ofspeakers, are John Allen, president of Quantum Marine Engineeringand Luiz de Basto, presidentand chief designer at DeBasto Designs.Allen and de Basto join previously announced speaker Bill Blountfrom Donald L. Blount & Associates for day two"s openingsession, America"s Technical Challenges and Opportunities.Here, delegates will get an outline from the speakers, asrepresentatives of the different stages in superyacht building, ofwhat clients asking for and how the American industry can betterserve their needs. Improving technology, while notovercomplicating it beyond use, is a key aim of this session. Thetwo speakers are part of the fabric of the industry, with De Bastoa leader in superyacht design for three decades, designing morethan 200 yachts for over 40 yards globally. Meanwhile, Allenlaunched Quantum MarineEngineering Inc. in 1985; which now based inFort Lauderdale, supplies motion control stabilisers and hydraulicservices, as well as its own range of stabilisers and hydraulicpower units. Speaking about the impending forum, Georgina Lucey, events directorat Superyacht Events, said: "We are thrilled to welcome such a high calibre of speakersfor our tenth anniversary of ASF.
