It is an old folkdance from the south of Spain (Andalucia). It's danced by couplesof all ages and sexes during celebrations, and often by wholefamilies. Sevillanas choreography is very stable. It is very useful to knowit since it is a party dance. This is why learning flamenco usuallystarts with this particular dance: it is easier to reach aparticular level and there are more occasions for practice andtraining (even for men). Each sevillana is composed of 4 parts. Each part divided into 3coplas and each copla made up of 6 movements. TANGOS: Tangos is a flamenco palo closely related in form and feeling tothe Rumba. It is often performed as a finale to a Tientos. Itscompas (beats) and llamada (call) are the same as that of theFarruca and share the Farruca's lively nature. Tangos is distinct from the Rumba primarily through the guitarplaying. In Rumba the guitar flows more freely, whereas in Tangosthe accents on beats 2, 3 & 4 are marked clearly with heavystrumming. ALEGRIAS: Alegrías is a flamenco palo or musical form. It has a rhythmconsisting of 12 beats. It is similar to Soleares. Alegríasoriginated in Cádiz (South of Spain). Alegríasbelongs to the group of palos called Cantiñas and it isusually played in a lively rhythm (120-170 beats per minute). Thelivelier speeds are chosen for dancing, while quieter rhythms arepreferred for the song alone. One of the structurally strictest forms of flamenco, a traditionaldance in Alegrías must contain each of the followingsections: a salida (entrance), paseo (walkaround), silencio(similar to an adagio in ballet), castellana (upbeat section)zapateado (Literally "a tap of the foot") andbulerías. This structure though, is not followed whenAlegrías are sung as a standalone song (with no dancing).
