The Titleist 913H hybrid is the perfect example of this, with its compact and attractive head, a low-spinning, penetrating flight and workability for those accomplished enough to shape the ball.
At first glance, its looks are very similar to Titleist 910H Hybrid, but that goes to show that when it works, don’t try to fix it. The head design is a little wider, and the face seems to run square off the hosel with very little, if any, offset, which I loved. Performance came next, and it was very easy to strike, flight and shape the ball from all types of lie. The 82-gram shaft I tested helped me to feel where and when the face would square up. This really gave me confidence on exactly where the ball would go immediately after contact.
The classic pear-shaped head features a new sleeker version of Titleist’s SureFit Tour hosel, which allows loft and lie to be adjusted independently. The centre of gravity position and offset differ slightly depending on loft to deliver distance and forgiveness through the range. More weight helps provide the optimum launch and reduced spin.
PLAYABILITY: Lots of adjustability lets testers dial settings to fit their needs; no trouble working these left or right; the hard-driving Titleist 913HD Hybrid is best off the tee, while the higher-flying, softer-landing 913H works best into greens.
ACCURACY/FORGIVENESS: A real strong suit—more forgiving than others; a wide area on the face rewards testers with great shots; misses are only slightly punished with 913H or 913H.d.
DISTANCE: Above average; stable clubhead yields long, consistent shots; testers lose little length on misses.
Wow! What a club this Titleist 913H is. The Titleist range has a broader appeal than ever, thanks to extra forgiveness and impressive adjustability.
