Ping Golf is one of the big boys of the golf equipment manufacturing world, and Ping's most forgiving driver is popular with many amateurs and pros alike. But What Ping driver is the right one for you?
Ping G25 Driver
The adjustable-hosel Ping G25 driver is offered in four lofts - 8.5, 9.5, 10.5 and 12 degrees - but each of those lofts is adjustable up or down by a half-degree. The adjustable hosel is the same diameter as Ping's fixed hosels, and the company calls its system "Trajectory Tuning Technology." The hosel adjustments that affect loft are made using a Ping wrench.
Ping says the G25 driver has the largest profile and is the most forgiving clubhead design it has offered to date. It certainly has striking looks with its charcoal, non-glare finish. The clubhead is 460cc in volume, titanium, with an ultra-thin crown, but with internal structural support in the crown, sole and skirt intended to create a solid feel and sound.
Ping G30 Driver
The driver in the Ping G30 lineup is the G30 Adjustable driver, with its "turbulators" on the crown that, in addition to boosting ball speed, can also assist with alignment, Ping says. The G30 driver introduces T9S titanium to the Ping lineup, a material that allows for a thinner clubface and, therefore, frees up weight to help position the center of gravity low and back.
An option some golfers will select is the SF Tec clubhead, "SF Tec" standing for "Straight Flight Technology." This head has a lighter swingweight and more weight toward the heel compared the standard G30 driver head, which can help golfers who lose shots to the right improve their accuracy.
Ping's Trajectory Tuning+ Technology gives golfers the option to add or subtract up to one degree of loft, helping adjust spin rates and launch angle. The Ping G30 clubs are designed to fly higher and longer, without sacrificing forgiveness.
