Hunt for air conditioning and refrigeration mechanic courses. Where do you want to study? The location of your college matters a lot. The colleges in Toronto generally have excellent industry-academia partnerships, which help you find work upon graduation. A number of colleges in Toronto offer apprenticeship programs of duration between two to five years. Choose a program that suits your interests and career goals. However, remember that you will have to register through the Ministry of Training, Colleges and Universities. You can't apply to a particular college. 3. Identify a sponsor. Wondering why? Well, you need to be an apprentice, in order to apply to an apprenticeship program. In addition, your employer must sponsor you. This is a mandatory requirement to be eligible to apply to a program. If you're thinking why your employer will sponsor you, let me tell you that even they will benefit from your knowledge and skills. There is a short supply of heating and air conditioning mechanics who have been formally trained in a particular occupation. So, if they hire trained mechanics, their service levels will be enhanced ultimately improving their bottom line.v 4. Earn a certification. Once you complete your apprenticeship while studying refrigeration and air conditioning mechanism, you are eligible to write the exam for your qualification certificate. So, pass this exam and earn a certification. Thinking how this would help? Well, this establishes you as an expert in your occupation. 5. Be ready for more responsibilities. Before the training you're an apprentice. But now you're a certified mechanic. This means you should now be ready for more responsibilities. You will not only fix the problems but will also be responsible for communicating with clients, developing business, and installing new equipment at homes and businesses. You may also have to manage a team of apprentices, depending upon your employment. You will end up doing several different things at different places.
