In the United States of America, arthritis is one of the most common health problems. More than 46 million Americans are affected by this inflammatory condition. In simple terms, arthritis is a condition that causes inflammation in your joints. This inflammation may be caused because of many different factors, such as obesity, injury or genetic structure.

If you are suffering from a chronic condition, it may cause a lot of pain, deformity and restricted movement of your affected joints. It's important to understand that arthritis is a common autoimmune disease. Like every other autoimmune disease, your immune system starts attacking the body's healthy tissues.

There are many different types of arthritis. In order to get some relief, you need to develop an effective arthritis diet plan. According to health experts, certain foods can provide you with some relief from pain and inflammation.

What should you eat?

In order to notice some improvement, you need to focus on a healthy arthritis diet plan. Your diet needs to be healthy and balanced. You need to eat a lot of vegetables, nuts, fruits, seeds, meat and grains.

Besides a healthy arthritis diet plan, it's also important to lose excess weight. Obese people are likely to suffer from arthritis, and experience additional pain because of the extra pressure on joints. You need to eliminate processed foods from your diet.

Most health experts make some dietary recommendations to help patients. It's quite obvious that you need to eat a balanced diet. It can help you lose excess weight, and improve your overall health.

Even when you're looking to lose weight, you should not fast or think about crash dieting. Moreover, you need to keep your body hydrated, and quit alcoholic beverages. If you're experiencing excess body weight, you may place unwanted stress on the joints, especially your knees and hips.

Omega 3 fats are important in your arthritis diet plan!

Many studies suggest that omega 3 fats can reduce inflammation related to some kinds of arthritis, such as rheumatoid arthritis. Though over the counter may have some side effects, omega 3 fats don't cause such problems. In addition to this, they also offer some health benefits, such as reduced risk of stroke and heart disease. Some foods with a high concentration of omega 3 fats include linseeds, flax seed oil, fish oil supplements, fish, eggs, walnuts and more.

When you're developing a healthy arthritis diet plan, you shouldn't mix fish oils with fish liver oils. Fish liver oils have a high concentration of vitamin A. Excess of this vitamin may cause side effects in your body. Before you start taking vitamin supplements, it's important to consult a medical professional and gather information about appropriate dosage.

If the doctor thinks some foods might worsen your arthritis or inflammation, it's important to make a food journal to keep track of your food intake. You should also consult a nutritionist. Whole foods are an important part of your diet. You should never completely eliminate them. If you eliminate essential foods from the arthritis diet plan, it may lead to deficiencies. Therefore, consulting a dietitian is important.
