Are you not sure if particular particulates pass inspection? When dealing with certain technologies or machinery, clean rooms are absolutely essential. Keeping in mind the classification of clean rooms, you can determine whether you need to update and renovate a particular area, of if what you currently have available will do the job. Obviously, that means you need to know how they're classified, and more specifically, you need to know what that classification means. It's actually pretty straightforward. Class Is in Session A clean room is classified depending upon how clean the air is. How is that measured? According to federal standards in the USA, the number of particles equal to and greater than 0.5 mm is measured in one cubic foot of air. Depending upon that number, that count is used to classify the clean room. The higher the class number, the more particles that are allowed. The lower the class number, the fewer particles that are allowed. This is fairly intuitive. The larger number relates directly to a larger number, and the smaller number relates directly to a smaller number, so it's pretty easy to remember. How do you make this determination? If you're worried about the classification of clean rooms, you can always have monitoring done. Airborne monitoring will give you particulate testing, and you'll also need surface and air testing for organisms. This will give you the initial numbers you need to determine where you clean room currently falls under the classification. The monitoring specialists should also be able to give recommendations about what can be done to improve, or lower the number, of your classification. If you don't need to make any changes, that's fantastic. You'll know that your clean room is up to the standards that are required. Of course, if you're curious about the class of clean room that you have or that you need, you're probably planning on making changes. It's probably not a bad idea to have testing done, just so that you know where you stand.
