Let’s have a little bit of fun today. I recently came across two very juicy pieces of information about a business guru who’s very famous on social media. I’m going to leave out his name to protect his remaining honor. Exhibit #1: There was a Forbes article published saying that person was allegedly getting sued for not paying rent on a mansion he was living in. Now I didn’t have a problem with that. There’s nothing wrong with renting property as long as you didn’t tell people that you owned it. The problem was that he lied about the value of the property, the number of rooms it had, etc. Why would someone lie about that? I’ll leave the answer up to you. Exhibit #2: There was a Facebook post from another entrepreneur claiming that this guru stole the blueprint of one of his programs that he spent 20 years of his life creating. Though we’ll never know for sure, the evidence he posted did seem to slightly point in that direction. And I don’t plan on finding out for myself by spending (most likely) tens of thousands of dollars and joining both their programs. Even the guru’s right hand man admits that he tends to use a lot of black hat marketing strategies, and places responsibility on his interns when issues like this come up. So the point of this email? Don’t always believe how the supposedly wealthy online entrepreneurs are portraying themselves. It may not always be what it seems. But if you’re not one of those people, and you really want to build an authentic connection with your audience and help them, there’s no better way to do that than by using email.
