Advertising is very important. Companies have to get their brand and products out there so that people recognize them. If no one knows they exist, they cannot sell and be profitable. They need to set themselves apart from others with the same/similar products or services.

There are so many different forms of advertising available right now. Companies can choose to do commercials on TV or radio. There are newspaper and magazine ads or even billboards. Then there is the internet. Banner ads can be purchased or companies can work with bloggers to get their names and products known in the mainstream.

With all of these options, companies have to make sure they know their target audience and pick an advertising venue that will hit their target audience. They also have to look at their budgets and make sure that they are getting "the most bang for their buck" when it comes to dollars spent.

Companies can use advertising specialties as an inexpensive but powerful way of creating awareness of their brand and insuring name retention. This includes branded merchandise like key chains, coffee cups, t-shirts, calendars, or other promotional items with the company name or log printed on it.

Advertising specialties are often used in promotions, public relations events or tradeshows as handouts and giveaways. Advertisers will buy promotional items to give to potential clients. They are even used in political campaigns.

There are many different promotional products for companies to choose from. Companies need to make sure they are of good quality and represent their services. Believe it or not, people will remember where they received that excellent pen from as opposed to a cheap one that did not work more than once or twice. Companies should try to choose products that have some sort of tie-in with their business and what they are trying to promote.

Most of the promotional items given can have the company information printed on them. There should be some way for the customer to contact the company for more information on their products and services. The item should also not be cluttered with too much info as that may be unappealing to the consumer.

Some things that might be popular today are computer related items such as mouse pads or memory sticks. Green products or eco-friendly promotions are a hit these days too as more people try to be more conscious about the environment and protecting it. T-shirts with fun, catchy phrases and the company's website are always a hit. Sticky notes are popular too.

Advertising specialties can help raise brand awareness, improve public relations, and harbor new customers. They can also help in elections to raise awareness of candidates and the issues.

All of this can help a company's bottom line, but they also need to be smart about where the dollars are spent and on what. They need to make sure they target their audience and really know them before embarking on a campaign that may cost a lot with minimal results.
