It has been a long season for the Colts, this is not the way that they were expecting things to go for them this season. After 12 games the current record stands at 6-6. This may be looked at the galss is half empty, or that the glass may have a crack in it, regardless of how you look at it, there are several things that need to be improved on for the final 4 games. This will be the gut check time for the team in allowing them to get a real fell of their status. Before the fans demand that the man be replaced and given to another team, let's look at the facts, he is one of the best quaterbacks to play the game in a long time. Few will argue that he is future Hall of Fame material and will be destined to do wonderful things on the field. The truth is that the man is going through a dry spell. While it is not common for a player to experience, it is quite fixable if the right ingredients are in place for the team. First things first, Peyton Manning needs to find his mojo and get back on track. It has been a horrible disaster for the Colts, in the way of passing the ball. There have been more turnovers this season committed, then there have been in previous years. This has allowed a number of teams to capitalize on these mistakes and make the most from them. A classic example of this is last game against the Dallas Cowboys. In overtime, all the elements are lined up perfectly, for the Colts to march down the field. Then it happens, Manning throws yet another Interception and allows the Cowboys to have ideal field advantage and get the easy win. While Manning has dealt with his issues, there are still some players that need to get their head into the game and make the important plays later in the season. One of the biggerst areas of improvement, is that of catching the ball. Jospeh Adei is one of the players that will need to make sure that they are ready for any pass that comes at them. This is what led to the undoing of the Colts against the Cowboys, the issues that were evident, need to be gone for the rest of the season and allow for massive plays to be committed. There is going to need to be a lot of cohesive structure on the field for the colts over the next few games. If this is in place, then the team will still be a contender for the Super Bowl. One loss though is all it will take to keep the Colts on the sidelines watching the playoffs, this will be one of the most important four weeks of Manning's career. The question will be how will he handle the pressure of it all? Doc No: 1103-FB-ULT20-ornblk Bobby C Barton is a retired high school coach who writes for SportsFanTreasures.
