Having a Baby. The doctor told me that having a baby would hurt just a bit. I knew he had no idea what he was talking about. I had already had one. I wish I could have put electrodes onto his genital area and every time I was in pain so was he. There are a few women who feel very little pain, they lie there in full make up and combed hair. While others like myself lost all modesty and scream at the top of their voice. One nurse told me to pipe down I had no comfort from her. I had no drugs just oxygen. Demerol just makes you light headed but the pain is still there. I know I had Demerol with the first one. Having a baby is painful. Yes I did see an Amazon Indian have a baby on the beach clean it and then stand up and walk back into the bush when watching a documentary. That was an amazing sight to watch but that will never is me. Some women do not know they are pregnant, I just do not know how? What do they think is moving about in there? Some women spend 48 hours of strong full blown labor other women just have a baby in an hour. Every pregnancy is different, you may have easy births then wham the last one nearly takes your head off. I was in a room with four women. One a young girl not married picked up the baby by the leg and I told her that was not the way to do it. I told the nurse and said she would show us all how to hold, bathe, and change diapers. I wondered what kind of life that baby would have. Breast feeding oh what fun, the nipple is the bulls eye, the oriole the darker skin around the nipple is the milk bar. No one tells you, it can be a real ordeal if you do not know how to do breast feeding. My baby would clamp down on the nipple and try to bite it off until through trial and error I realized that the darker oriole was the actual milk. It is the best to breast feed of course and if you keep trying you know the baby will get the very best for their immunity. My doctor after I had spent 5 days trying to breast feed, said when are you going to feed your baby and give up this nonsense , the baby is losing weight. Of course I was very upset and I put her on the bottle. When the head nurse saw that she had a fit and took the bottle away and made me eat sugar and drink milk and then drink Stout beer. It was no good and in the end the bottle was given and my baby who was turning yellow started to thrive. I had a fever by then. People can make you feel very guilty for not doing what they think you should be doing. Of course it is the same time you feel emotional and crying is all a part of it. Just do the best you can. Bathing a baby can be easy. I bought a bouncy bath chair which fit into the baby bath. You lay the baby on the chair, the body is only in a small amount of water and you can wash the baby in safety never allowing the baby to slip while you wash the head and other areas. They come to love the warm water. I left the bottles in a solution of water and a few drops of bleach after washing. In England they have a solution called Milton. Never found anything like it here in America. The first six weeks you will be tired. Have the baby in the same room so that breast feeding is easy to do and changing the diaper. Of course if you are giving a bottle you husband can help. My baby was on milk for six months. Then cereal and pureed food. Every one is different, but remember they are growing inside and their stomachs need time to grow. Just as they need their bones to grow so don’t make them walk before they want to, unless you want bow legs. Written by Susan Oliver. A FUN GIFT SHOP Cure Your Snore
