My Effective 5 Novice Surfing Tips - A Must Read

Sports,Fitness,Hobbies
When you hear the word surfing does an image form in your mind of huge waves crashing onto a white sand beach in the tropical sunshine?. You can easily learn the surfing technique but you ought to take some time to practice it on a regular basis. We are going to discuss a few beginner surfer tips that will help you to get going and make sure that your first surfing experience is thoroughly enjoyable.

1. Right Gear for Surfing: Surfing is an equipment intensive sport that requires the proper gear to make it safe and enjoyable. Picking out the wrong surfboard can make it much difficult to learn to surf than it needs to be and there are several accessories which help keep you safe and comfortable. As per the recommendations of surfing professionals, a wide surfboard that is thick, round and floats high on water is best suited for beginners. Get a board that's about three feet longer than your height for extra stability. Additionally , you will necessitate a safety leash that fastens you to the board to ensure that after you wipe out you can find it easily. Depending on where you are surfing you may need a wet suit as well.

2. Board Paddling: Paddling the surfboard to the area where the waves are would be the first step while trying to catch a wave. Proper balance over the board is the key to this technique. The nose of the surfboard needs to be at least three inches above the water so surfers should position their body accordingly. Paddling with arms uses a large rounded movement that is very much like how a freestyle swimming stroke is executed. Each arm moves separately in a full stroke finishing back at the board. New surfer ought to pace themselves to avoid getting too tired.

3. Riding The Whitewater: The next technique which the beginner surfers should learn would be the whitewater rides. When the large waves hit the beach they break up and spill out white water. This is exactly the position where the surfers should transition their body from the prone paddling position to the standing, surfing position. The beginner surfer should wade out to waist deep water and then point the front tip of the board towards coast. As they observe the whitewater spills approaching from behind say at a distance of ten feet or so, they need to give a strong push to the board and paddle it fast. The surfboard will get more momentum when the white water reaches it and this is exactly the point when the surfer should try to stand up over the board and ride it towards the beach. It takes most people as much as five days to learn the pop up therefore they shouldn't get discouraged if it doesn't happen right away.

4. Turtle Roll Practicing: The beginning surfer has now learned the paddling and pop up technique so the next step is to learn how to get the board through the breaking waves. The best technique that beginners can make use of is the turtle roll for the reason that they are using long buoyant surfboards. Hold the rails or edges of the board tightly and turn over so the board is on top as the wave goes over. The surfer's body acts as an anchor to stop the board getting pushed ashore.

5. Choosing The Right Wave: The surfer should make an effort to catch a wave at the point where it is steep enough to shove the board forward making sure that it has not weakened down to the point of breaking. Going too soon over the wave gives a short ride and going too late usually sets up a big wipe out. Those who are interested in learning the surfing technique need to seek professional help. However these beginner surfing tips can certainly be of great help.
