The year was 2010 and I was desperate to get into this social media thing. I had no clue what to do, so of course, I did what common sense told me and researched it. The funny thing is I kept coming across articles, most of them bogus (but not all) that were talking about how I could make money from being online. Now remember, I was only on 2 networks at the time, because that’s what I knew about: Facebook and Twitter. I looked into these articles and read more about how to get followers on Twitter. After a few days of this madness, I finally took the plunge. I registered a second name for an experiment and did what the articles told me to do: buy Twitter followers! For a measly few bucks I went to this site and bought a few hundred. I then went to another site and bought another few hundred. I figured I’d test the two sites against each other and see how it all worked out. Much to my chagrin, the second site started to send me Facebook likes instead of Twitter followers. I couldn’t complain; after all, the packages for likes were higher than for Twitter followers and I could have used the help on Facebook but that’s not what my experiment was about. I’ll cut to the chase here. After a week or so, the stream of followers began to explode into a seemingly endless river of traffic. People I had no idea about were following me and then favoriting and liking a bunch of my tweets. Other people would see this and start following. The success was exponential. 2 years later, I have well over 40,000 followers that is the direct result of a small, curious experiment I engaged with at the beginning of my “twitter career”. You may be asking now, “Are you making any money when you buy Twitter followers?” Well, to be honest I made my money back and then some from that package but I hate to throw out numbers and get people excited. Here’s my advice if you want to get followers on twitter: do your own test, browse a few sites, and buy a package. It can’t hurt if you’re like a lost dog in the woods with this whole Twitter/Instagram/Facebook mess. I did what came easiest, I put some faith in the system, did a little hard work on the side to neutralize the departure of followers who might leave after a while, and now I’m sitting pretty at 40,000 doing what I love to do: tweet and write articles about my humble beginnings! If anyone is wondering if I have continued to research and buy social media services the answer is absolutely 100% yes.
