DVD/R and DVD/RW drives are a common feature included with most new computers. Over time and with use, the DVD drives wear out and require replacement. Removing a failed DVD/R or DVD/RW drive and replacing it with a new drive can be completed in about 15 minutes Instructions 1 Shut down the computer and leave the power cord plugged in. 2 Remove any screws (if included) that hold the computer case access panel in place and then remove the computer case access panel to open the computer case. 3 Locate the DVD drive inside the computer case and cut any tie wraps that secure the data and power cables connected to the DVD drive. Unplug the data and power cables that are plugged into the back of the DVD drive. Move the data and power cables away from the drive to make room for removal of the DVD drive. 4 Remove any screws that secure the DVD drive to the DVD drive sled and computer chassis. Slide any plastic tabs securing the DVD drive to the open position. Carefully remove the DVD drive by backing the drive out of the DVD drive slot or push the drive out of the front of the computer if the drive can slide out of the front of the chassis. 5 Remove any rails from the sides of the old DVD drive and install and secure the rails onto the new DVD drive. 6 Position the jumpers (IDE 40 pin data interface only) on the new DVD drive in the same position as the old DVD drive. The jumper will be set to "Master," "Slave" or "Cable Select." If the DVD drive uses a SATA interface, then there are no jumper settings. 7 Slide the new DVD drive into the DVD drive sled inside the computer chassis. Plug the data and power cables into the back of the DVD drive and verify that the cables are securely attached. 8 Replace the tie wraps that were previously removed with new tie wraps by placing them around the data and power cables. Secure the data and power cables in the original position and ensure that the data and power cables do not block the airflow from the fans inside the chassis. 9 Replace the computer access panel into its original location on the chassis and secure the panel with screws (if provided). 10 Power up the computer. The Windows operating system will display a "Found new hardware" message on the computer screen. Windows will find and install driver software for the new DVD drive and then post a message that the installation has been completed and that the new hardware is ready to use. 11 Place a DVD disc in the new DVD drive. Click the "Start" button, then click "Computer" or "My Computer" and double-click the DVD drive icon. A window will appear displaying the contents of DVD disc, which confirms that the drive is installed and working correctly. wholesale silver jewelry wholesale crystal jewelry wholesale leaf jewelry wholesale silver ring wholesale silver pendant hidden camera Spy hidden camera watch hidden camera record pen Dreambox dm8000 hd pvr Dreambox dm8000 hd pvr dreambox dm7025 Dreambox dm800 HD Se with WiFi Sunray4 DM800 HD SE Dreambox dm800 hd pvr dreambox dm500 hd dreambox dm600 pvr Vu+ SOLO Single Tuner dreambox 8000 hd dreambox 8000hd Dreambox dm500 HD Dreambox dm500 HD dm500 dm500 hd dm 500 hd Dreambox DM800 hd se with Wifi Dreambox DM800 hd se with Wifi Dreambox DM800 HD SE Dreambox DM800 HD SE dm800 hd se dm800hd se dm800se dm800 se dreambox 800 hd se dreambox800 se Dreambox DM800 HD PVR dm800 800hd dreambox dm800hd dm 800 hd dm 800 hd pvr dreambox hd dreambox 800 hd dm 800 dreambox dm 800 hd pvr dreambox dm 800 hd dreambox 800 dm800hd dreambox dm800 dm800 hd pvr Dreambox DM800C Dreambox dm800S dreambox 800s Dreambox DM500S dm500S dm 500S dm500 dreambox 500 dreambox 500s dm500c Dreambox dm500T Dreambox DM500T ORTON HD X403P Dreambox DM500Si
