Weight loss might appear very complicated and involved, but if you know what you are doing, it can be a very rewarding experience. If you don't know what you are doing, you can lose too much weight at once, not eat enough, or cause other health issues. Don't worry though, the tips listed below can help you avoid these tyes of problems.

If you are a pizza lover it is okay to eat a slice of two here and there, but you can still cut calories and fat by doing a couple of things. Buy pizza by the slice, so you do not end up eating the whole thing. Also, opt for veggie toppings instead of meats, and do not add any extra cheese.

If you find yourself feeling especially hungry and can't differentiate between a craving and actual, real hunger, try this trick: Instead of starting with whatever junk food you happen to be craving, head straight for the veggies or fiber-rich fruits. If you are truly hungry, these foods will satisfy your body's need for sustenance, and you will be filling your stomach with good, healthy foods.

It is common practice to increase the intensity of a workout routine to shed extra pounds, but it is also a good idea to increase the density- the amount of work done in the time frame allowed. This method will increase your stamina and endurance while also helping you drop a size or two.

A good way to lose weight is to cut out all of the soda you drink. Soda is loaded with sugar and carbohydrates and most of us aren't very cognizant about how much we actually drink. Cut out all of the empty calories you take in from soda and start drinking water, a healthier alternative.

If you have a job in which you are sitting down most of the day, it is important that you get up and take a break every now and then. By not doing so and remaining inactive, you will never be able to lose weight, not matter what diet you are on.

Get rid of all the junk food in your house. If you have easy access to foods that make you gain weight, you will eat them. It is much less likely you will eat a candy bar if you have to drive all the way to the store to get it.

If you are going to have a meal at a restaurant, you should avoid sandwiches, because they usually have mayo, cheese, and other fat-laden sauces. It is okay to have one, but only if you ask for it with no mayo or cheese. Get the sauce on the side so you can control how much of it is used. Another helpful hint, is to remove the top bun.

Build a daily menu of foods you plan to eat to stay ahead of your dietary goals. By calculating exactly what you are eating you will become more aware of the amount of calories going into your body. This will show you exactly how much you will need to exercise off to lose the weight.

If you already walk for weight loss, here is a simple tip to easily boost your results. Start adding short bursts of jogging at regular intervals during your walking routine. This extra effort will burn more calories, and you will finish your route a little more quickly. The extra impact will help to strengthen your bones, also.

Invest in a food scale. It will become one of your best friends. Look at the amount of calories and fat grams per portion and stick to that size/amount. Do not rely on your estimating a portion. Keep some measuring cups on hand with your scale.

If you are not very fond of one kind of fruit or another, try making an applesauce dip for them. You can use plain applesauce or you can take some sugar free jello mix and add it to it. This will make the fresh fruit more interesting and enjoyable for you.

Keeping a journal during a weight loss program can be a great tool to keep you on track. Write down everything you eat on a daily basis and look for patterns that may be slowing down your losses. Journaling your feelings can also help boost your motivation as each day your entries get more and more positive!

You may be tempted, when trying to lose weight, to cut fat out entirely. But it's important to remember that fat has a high satiety value in foods, so a little will go a long way. Case in point: baked potato chips may have no fat, but because of that, they don't trigger your satiety level as quickly as regular or even the "fat-free" Olestra chips do. So, you're tempted to eat the whole bag. Better, for example, to eat a small amount of high-quality, high-fat food - let's say, a small high-end dark chocolate bar - then to gorge on large quantities of low- or non-fat foods. You'll be more satisfied without having to say "No" to treats.
