If you're worried about weight gain occurring a couple of months into your quit, you're not alone. Here are a couple of processes to keep in mind.

The dieting method

We all know that if we ingest fewer calories, we will at first lose weight. Except that we burn fat, the weight loss will be a loss of muscle and water. The metabolic rate is the rate at which our system uses calories, or fuel. The metabolic rate is affected by lots of things, such as the amount of calories we ingest. Were we to just cut down on our caloric intake, our bodies would go into survival mode. In this case, our bodies try to retain as much energy as possible and thus try to keep as much fat as possible. Our bodies so try to store fat. Lean muscle tissue is then burnt for fuel. What this actually does is lower the metabolic rate. This results in no fat burning.

The weight loss method

What we have to do is increase our metabolic rate. Our bodies have to receive the message to burn fat instead. Muscle tissues are made of cells that use fuel. Fat cells are lifeless cells, they don't need any energy. Muscles use fat as energy in their calorie burning work, and need a constant supply. The more they exercised, the more they burn fat, even while we sleep. So the manner to stop using the wrong type of fuel is to have the muscles burn fat as fuel. The ultimate way is through exercise. The more we build muscle tissue, the more the fat the tissues will burn.

How to increase fat-burning

A research at Laval University shew that you can burn calories nine times faster by applying a 'burst' trick to your exercise. Say you choose a walk as your preferred exercise. Walk at your regular rythm, and somewhere during the walk, walk faster for twenty seconds or so, to the point you feel yourself breathing faster. This is an interval training many fitness experts recommend.

Building muscle tissue

Weight training, resistance training will add muscle tissue. You can do a little by using cans of food from your cupboard for a few minutes every day, while you're in the kitchen waiting for water to boil, for instance. Put on some rhythmic music, set the microwave or oven timer for a couple of minutes, and voila, you've begun a simple kitchen gym program! Your metabolic rate will increase by stimulating muscle mass and using that muscle will result in fat burning. Adding lean muscle mass will heighten your resting metabolic rate.

Some Foods that boost your metabolism

Researchers say that some foods and herbs will heighten your metabolism, but they only do so for a short while.
